Appointment Information & Policies

APPOINTMENT POLICIES

Video visits can run into the same time delays as in-person visits so we ask for your patience. Numerous unforeseen circumstances arise to cause delays. The staff and Dr. Mason try very hard to stay on schedule but we do ask that you avoid scheduling other appointments/commitments adjacent to your visit with us.  The staff does their best to keep you updated on Dr. Mason’s status via text as your appointment time gets very close.

Rescheduling is extremely difficult so please do your best to keep this appointment. Dr. Mason’s schedule is commonly booked out for 3-4 months. If he’s running behind schedule and you cancel your appointment at the last minute (if you decide you cannot wait for him) we would need to assess the late cancel fee of $50.

If a cancellation or reschedule is unavoidable, please let us know at least one full business day prior to avoid a fee. Please be advised that Dr. Mason cannot prescribe controlled substances until you are up-to-date on your appointment.

Thank you for understanding the need for this policy and how it impacts our office scheduling.

VISIT LENGTH AND CHARGES

We offer two appointment types: Brief and Extended:

  • BRIEF appointments are appropriate when there are no new issues to discuss and no anticipated changes in your regimen.  They typically require 5 to 10 minutes of face time with Dr. Mason, but complexity, not time, determines medical billing charges.

  • EXTENDED appointments usually involve 15-20 minutes of face time.  This allows more time for questions, new issues, changes of regimen, review of outside testing, etc.

  • Current charge for Brief Visits is $125 and Extended Visits are $165.

  • Please inquire if you are unsure about the length of your appointment so we can clarify. This helps us do our best to stay on schedule.

Most of the work in a medical practice is done behind-the-scenes and does not result in any additional charges. For example, we often do not charge for prior authorizations or letters to schools, even though they involve 10-45 minutes of staff time per incident.

We sometimes receive letters from insurance companies requesting discounts on our fees.  We do not accept these offers, because we offer the same price to every patient at the best value we can.
